Dr. Peter B. Laliberte grew up in Waterville
and attended the local public school system. Peter received
his undergraduate education from the University of Maryland
from 1969 - 72. There he was the founder of the college ski
team and was a zoology major. Prior to gradating he was accepted
to Tufts School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts
and graduated from there in 1975, as an award recepient, from
their accelerated three-year dental program. Dr. Laliberte
then began a one year residency at Eastman Dental Center in
|
Rochester, New York. While there, he participated
in clincal and intensive didactic activities, and engaged in
research oriented around the effects of Titanium Tetraflouride
on dentin acid dissolution. The joint findings were reported
on internationally. While at Eastman Dental Center he married
Donna Sue Titcomb of Newport, Maine in November of 1975. They
live today in Winslow.
Dr. Laliberte, with his wife assisting at his side, began practicing
in August of 1976, at 141 Silver St. Since then, Peter has become
very active in continuing education and service, both in his
field and in the community. He is a founder and past president
of |
the Kennebec Valley Dental Study Club and past President
of the Maine Academy of General Dentistry. Also, as editor,
he has been very active in the improvement of the Maine
Academy of General Dentistry Newsletter. In 1998, through
almost twenty years of continuing education he was honored
as a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry (M.A.G.D.),
an honor that only few dentists in the state have attained.
Additionally, in the summer of 2004, Dr. Laliberte received
a fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantology
(I.C.O.I.)
for his continued study of dental implants. He has now been
in practice in Waterville for over 30 years and still truly
loves what he does.
Together, Peter and Donna have two sons. Their oldest son,
Scott, graduated from Colby College with a degree in Economics.
Scott passed away at 25 while in his second year at Palmer
College's Chiropractic school in Port Orange, Florida. On
Septemer 22, 2006, he was honored by his class, the Scott
T. Laliberte Memorial Class, with the dedication of a symbolic
tree planted at the entrance to the new campus. Scott was
a terrific man, friend and student who left a legacy that
would make any parent proud.
Doug graduated from Colby as well with a Bachelor of Arts
in Environmental Policy. We are elated to say that Doug
has chosen to pursue a career in dentistry and is currently
in his second year at Tufts University School of Dental
Medicine. Both boys attended the Winslow School system and
were active athletically as well as academically. Peter
and Donna were very involved in their lives and continue
to support them in their endeavors. Dr. Laliberte became
the president of the Winslow High School Soccer Boosters
and both he and his wife were involved in their childrens
project graduations. Peter is a past chairman of the Kennebec
Catholic Charities organization and vice-chairman of the
local American Cancer Society.
Peter's life has always involved two things, his love for
the outdoors and athletics. At a young age Peter began ski
racing, sailing, and golf, three sports that he still enjoys
today. Peter's love for nature has been passed on to his
family. His boys grew up hiking, camping, fishing and hunting
with their mom and dad. Peter will forever be in pursuit
of the one that got away.
Dr. Laliberte's emphasis on excellence has been evident
throughout his life, but especially in his practice of dentistry.
You will note modern, everchanging facilities as well as
attention to his patients' every need. New patients are
given comprehensive evaluations and written recommendations.
