Jay R.
Wietecha, D.M.D.
 |
Dr. Jay R. Wietecha grew up in Park Ridge, Illinois,
just outside of Chicago. When Dr. Wietecha was only
9, at a time when all the other boys wanted to be firemen,
Jay was adamant that he wanted to become a dentist and
stuck to it. In 1996, Dr. Wietecha graduated from the
University of San Diego with a major in Biology.
After a year off to refresh his mind, Dr. Wietecha
began his four years at Tufts School of Dental Medicine.
While Jay was in Dental School, he spent a summer teaching

water-skiing at camp Vega in Kents Hill where he began
to develope a respect for Maine's Recreation.
Before graduating in 2001, he entered a five week externship
at the Veterans Association Hospital in Togus, Maine.
In August of that same year, Dr. Wietecha was asked to
be an associate at Dr. Laliberte's practice and in July
of 2003 the two joined in a partnership.
Working at Esthetic and Reconstructive Dentistry, Dr.
Wietecha has committed himself to excellence and continuing
education. At Esthetic and Reconstructive Dentistry we
are very proud to announce that Dr. Wietecha was just
recently elected the President of the Maine
Academy of General Dentistry for a two year term.
Dr. Wietecha is also the current editor of the Maine Academy
of General Dentistry's Newsletter, the Pine Tree General
Practitioner. This publication goes out twice a year
to all of the dentists within the state. For his efforts
in this journal he was honored with three consecutive
awards of excellence.
More locally, he has been voted the

Secretary/Treasurer of the Kennebec Valley Dental
Society, which is the regional component of the Maine's
Dental Association. Additionally, Dr. Wietecha serves
on the board for the Waterville Community Dental Center.
This center provides care for children and families
that would not be able to afford treatment otherwise.
In August of 2006, Dr. Wietecha received a fellowship
award from the International College of Implantology
(I.C.O.I),
which was presented to him in Montreal. He also continues
to take implant courses through the Misch Implant Institute
in Detroit, Michigan. Jay has now completed the necessary
course work for a Fellowship
in the Academy of General Dentistry, and will receive
this distinction at the annual convention in the fall
of 2007. This honor represents a five year commitment
to continuing education in a broad spectrum of study.
Courses range from implants and periodontal surgery,
to aesthetics and advanced reconstruction. It is through
these intense programs, in addition to direct mentoring
from Dr Laliberte, that Dr. Wietecha is helping to improve
our practice and offer the highest level of dentistry.
